Iranian play to honor Commander Qassem Soleimani

Iranian play ‘The Soldier’ is to pay tribute to Commander Qassem Soleimani.

Iranian play ‘The Soldier’, scheduled for staging at Vahdat Hall on January 1, 2021, has been set to pay tribute to Commander Qassem Soleimani.

Written and directed by Hossein Parsaee, the play will be performed to observe the first martyrdom anniversary of the chief of IRGC Quds Force, who was assassinated during a US airstrike in Baghdad on January 3, 2020.

The director said “This play is so attractive and important that does not require any box office draw. We actually owe to the main character of the play.”

“The style of my narrative is quite different in this play, since the main character of the play is known as a national hero,” Parsaee added.

He also noted that he has tried to keep his version of the events as factual as possible in the play.

‘The Soldier’ will go on stage with limited number of audiences due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Parsaee directed the dramatic parts of the symphonic poem ‘Alamdar’ (Standard-bearer) at Vahdat Hall in September to raise funds for the poor across the country.

‘Alamdar’ is about Hazrat Abbas (AS), the brother of Imam Hussein (AS) and the standard-bearer of the Imam’s group in the Karbala event, during which the Imam and his companions were martyred.
